Location /FacilitiesEstablished in 1903, Dannevirke High School is a co-ed State school on 12.7 hectares of grounds and gardens. We are 45 minutes Academic ProgrammeThe NZ National Curriculum is taught from Year 9 to Year 13 (pre University year) in many subjects, including the Arts, Sciences, Accounting and Economics, Computing, Music, Graphics, French and Maori. In-school music lessons offered and private lessons available after school. Sports and Cultural ActivitiesDannevirke High School encourages involvement in sport and cultural activities. The school fields teams in many sports including soccer, athletics, hockey, rugby, cricket, etc. Tae Kwon Do, Judo, and other martial arts available locally. Music lessons available in singing and a variety of instruments; students are encouraged to participate in the various cultural activities that are held during the year. Student Welfare and SupportThe School employs a fulltime Director Of International Students whose job it is to care for international students on a daily basis. She oversees orientation programmes, advises on study plans, arranges visa renewals, uniforms, bank accounts, medical care, homestays, etc. AccommodationInternational students will be offered homestay accommodation in local high quality selected homes. The families are carefully chosen for English Language SupportESOL classes offered to international students as needed, up to 3 hours per day. Long serving, highly-experienced ESOL teacher. ESOL classes offered according to needs of students. IELTS and TOEFL classes offered. Individual subject support as needed. Extra Curricular ProgrammesStudents are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of school and community sports & cultural International Student ProgrammeStudents spend time in International Student Department for orientation and then tested in Science, Mathematics and English . Form level and subject placement then decided. Students placed according to ability and level of English. IELTS and TOEFL classes are also available. Extra Tutoring available.
